What happens if my student is no longer eligible for the Specialty (CTE) program or decides they want to discontinue the program/class?
If a student is dismissed from a specialty program, they will be required to return to their Base school for the duration of the school year and rest of their tenure in high school.
If a student decides they no longer want to participate in the specialty program, they must submit a statement in writing. Specialty Coordinators and Registrars of the Requested school, must be notified of this withdrawal from the program for data and accountability purposes. Please note: The student eligibility and/or participation in any sports-related activities may be affected upon their return to the Base school.
What other category(ies) to Extenuating Circumstances cover?
Homelessness, displacement due to traumatic events/circumstances, mental incapacitation due to specific events/circumstances due to traumatic events (e.g., refugees, etc.,)*
*Written documentation may be required to substantiate the aforementioned circumstances (i.e., court documents, legal reports, etc.,) All situations are subject to review and discretion of approval is rendered by the school Administrators.
Once this process is complete and my child has been approved, what happens the following year?
EVERY year the Student Transfer must be resubmitted and approved.*** Your student must meet all eligibility requirements (i.e., attendance, behavior) and within their CTE programs, classes, etc., in order to maintain enrollment at the Requested school.
